Yeah, same here - I love a good cover crop that is weed-free except for those pesky AG plants. I think a LAWN has developed now where 100% Dutch White Clover is supposed to be, lol. Good thing that I love to mow with the Zero-Turn. eg

Buckwheat is supposed to be good for making nutrients available. I like this idea and Jim's attitude is funny... pumpkins are nothing but a big weed in his pristine cover crop.

Jim Bryson also has mastered the cover crop thing. My variation on the theme is to plant broad beans and let other beneficial flowers grow around my pumpkin planting site, and then "chop and drop" the beans and flowers when the pumpkin vines reach them.

Good choice, they say the more species there are in a cover crop mix.... the better it is for your soil.

Good idea Russ. One of the only reasons we only plant rye is because it's the only plant that will survive our winters. A mix should/could be better and will grow with no problems now.
