I quickly broadcasted the cover crops and raked it in, scraped thick clay off my shoes and walked a few trails back to my car in pouring rain. Snow arrived same night. Weather is rollercoastering.

Cover crop was a nice 4-6" tall. All tilled in and mounds prepped ahead of some rest before the big storm.

Did a bit of fishing yesterday and caught alot of bass. Very windy, so I used my strike king spinners. My grow bags were prepped with black cow, vermiculite and coco coir. 2 seeds this year plants and were transplanted 2 weeks ago in my 35 gallon grow bags. 3.93 Shrek and the 3.73 Zack the Brute. We shall see how this goes. More to come from my community garden plots.

My trifecta mustard crop is up and growing in plot 145. Plantone, bone and blood meal seems to be working. My son and I broadforked the whole plot.

Two Zacks and two Shrek seedling tomatoes were watered. All seedlings seem to be doing well with the new truss system. Borage and onions are planted all around the hill for companion planting.

Started my own sweet potato slips with a nice bag of these Walmart specimens. I cut the tubers in half and lay them cut side down on prepped soil in a few small foil pans. These guys grow like crazy in the recent heat. Once they are about 2 to 4" tall or more, I cut them and place them in a clear glass container of water. In two days, I have roots! I plant the slips with these roots into Master Gardeners' potting soils with perlite. When the nights are above 60 here, I plant them outside. We are going to have some good sweeties. I just adopted some leeks from a Shafer Green House gardener, but all other plants were started from seeds. Love to companion plant. This year, these monsters are being tied up so they don't take up my walking paths.

Two Zacks growing well. Borage and onions were companion planted. This year, most everything was started from seeds. Tomatoes are on a new truss system I'm trying out. On the ends, I planted sweet Williams from seeds and the transplanted into my plot 153.

Beans and potatoes. I am trying green beans in the middle row and yellow beans on the right. I also planted beets and interplanted onions and basil. Along the back fence, I planted the adopted basil and hot peppers and leeks. Beyond in plot 145, I have cover crops growing containing buckwheat, mustard and alfalfa.

Planted some volunteer leeks, hot peppers and basil. Keeping an eye on the cover crop. I have never planted a tobasco pepper, so this will be an interesting experience. The hot peppers were all root bound in pots, so I broke off 1/2 inch of their root balls and cut all fruits and blossoms off before planting. I dug deep holes, filled holes with 1/2 gallon water and some bone meal. The leeks were completely root bound, so I cut apart the roots, dug deep holes and applied WOW Wallace starter packs. Basil was all in bloom, but that doesn't matter. I cut their roots too and reduce the plant height to half then planted. I freeze a ton of basil for the winter in ice cube trays, so this will definitely help feed the masses in my house!

Zukes under cover. Well, trying because these monsters grow like all the weeds engulfing my plots almost overnight. First time trying the insect netting and hoop idea. On the hill is also borage. My hope is this will be an unwelcome mat for the squash bug.
