Started my own sweet potato slips with a nice bag of these Walmart specimens. I cut the tubers in half and lay them cut side down on prepped soil in a few small foil pans. These guys grow like crazy in the recent heat. Once they are about 2 to 4" tall or more, I cut them and place them in a clear glass container of water. In two days, I have roots! I plant the slips with these roots into Master Gardeners' potting soils with perlite. When the nights are above 60 here, I plant them outside. We are going to have some good sweeties. I just adopted some leeks from a Shafer Green House gardener, but all other plants were started from seeds. Love to companion plant. This year, these monsters are being tied up so they don't take up my walking paths.
