Interesting time with seed germination this season. The last few years I was 10/10 on planted seeds germinating using this box set at 81 degrees. This year I planted a few extra of my own seeds, to get a wider selection to choose from. I planted 16 total seeds. Four of those planted were the 2020 Paton DMG. 12 out of 16 seeds sprouted up within five days. Zero of the four planted 2020 Paton DMG seeds germinated. So five days later, I planted one additional Paton seed. This one also didn't germinate. When I dug up the ungerminated Paton seeds, they looked just like they did when I planted them 10 days earlier. Next I planted some of my own seeds directly in the same pots/soil the Patton seeds were in - just to see what would happen. All five of those newly planted seeds sprouted up in three days. I'm interested to hear if anyone else is having trouble getting their 2020 Paton DMG seeds to germinate.

I learned another very valuable lesson this season. BE CAREFUL HOW MUCH BORN I ADD TO THE PATCH!! I was at 2.9 ppm last year end of season. Was hoping to get to 5.0 ppm this year. But obviously added way too much last November. The result - every pumpkin aborts on day 5, leaves all have yellow, curled up edges, burn easily with full sun, very fragile and horrible looking. Many of the male blooms have no stamen. Many of the female flowers are deformed when they open. Total disaster of a growing season.

Male blooms just have a small stump of a stamen.

Leaves all look like this - or worse. What a mess.

One other interesting thing with this boron mess - every single area of new growth has a white liquid substance oozing out of the edges. Hopefully it will be clear enough to show up in this photo.

Every spot of new growth on the plant also has a white substance oozing out of the ends. Boron?
