Sunday, May 11 View Page
This is my 150 sq ft patch with 1832.5 Grahams. I'm going bare bones: no heat or supplemental lighting. Mainly because I don't want to risk blowing the breaker to one of my main patch plants.

The greenhouses of Patch 1 and Patch 4 are lit with a 19 hr on, 5 hr off cycle

Monday, May 12 View Page
Patch 4: 2465 Sperry on the left, 2198 Sperry (started around 5 days later) on the right. The 2465 is on the ground and is looking like my keeper.

Patch 1's 2x 1727 Jacobus. Currently growing kind of straight up. Moved the light in front of them to encourage them towards it

Tuesday, May 13 View Page
In Patch 4 the 2465 Sperry is the chosen one. It's down on the ground and about 4 ft long.

Patch 4: the 2465 Sperry is out in the open. There's may be a couple of nights in the 40s still remaining, but it's time

The 2465 Sperry had some vine burying today.

Friday, May 30 View Page
Patch 1: the 1727 Jacobus is now out in the open. Both plants got vine buried, watered and fertilized.

Saturday, June 7 View Page
Got my first pollination today (2465 Sperry x 1832.5 Graham @14ft with 18 secondaries behind it, 3 lobes). The plant is doing well and with all the rain the roots are popping out of the ground. I was fortunate to get male flowers from my 150 sq ft plant, all the males on the main plants are either delayed or have dropped. My pumpkin advisor's best theory on the root cause is excess ethylene production in the greenhouses.

2465 Sperry. The shade cloth has been invaluable

I wish I had put the shade cloth up for the 1727 Jacobus. It got very burned in low 90s temps two days ago

The 2465 Sperry has a pumpkin set up.

Saturday, June 21 View Page
2465 Sperry x 1832.5 Graham, DAP 14. This is moving quite slowly which I think is due to: 1) Anthesis application after 48hrs, 2) Some colder nights in the 50s last week. It's warmer now though, and it should start picking up growth. There's another pumpkin pollinated on the plant that's a backup and still very small

Saturday, June 21 View Page
The 1727 Jacobus has been suffering in the heat with scorched leaves wherever there isn't shade cloth. The a 4 day old pumpkin pollinated that's very small

2465 Sperry with main vine going left to right

Saturday, June 28 View Page
2465 Sperry x 1832.5 Graham. 21dap, est 51lbs. It's smaller than I wanted it to be, but it was treated with Anthesis and experienced some early cold temps and recent hot temps. Currently 1 day behind the pace of my 2480

1727 Jacobus in Patch 1. It's been difficult to get some fruit going. My first contender aborted. Now I have a few recently pollinated on secondary vines and one on the main

1727 Jacobus x 2465 Sperry on a secondary vine, a few days old

Thursday, July 10 View Page
All my plants now have pumpkins set up. I'm behind my personal best, but the plants are seeming healthy so we'll see how it goes. This is the 2465 Sperry, 33 days old, 415 lbs

The 2465 Sperry plant. Vines are slowing down a little in places, but I still have some space (not in the picture) to fill in eventually

1727 Jacobus, 17 days old. Set her up today, which she was a little too big for. My earliest pollinations failed on this plant, so I pollinated a bunch and that left me with some tough choices. This one's actually on a secondary and there's one left on the main that I'm going to cull. It's quite a tough choice but this one seems better and I'm interested how growing on a true secondary will fair.

1832.5 Graham, 15 days old, 150 sq ft. This one is definitely going to be strawberry shaped.

I'm pretty sure my 2465 has yellow vine disease - from the color and stunting of leaves, sticking up secondaries, and the pumpkin growth not being where it should be. It did a couple of 40 lb days but then stopped to the 20s. However I've been surprised that it seems to have kept on growing at a decently steady pace. Day 50 889 lbs. It's not where I want it, but it's growing. Just in case it's a deficiency I've sent a tissue sample - I realized that my new fertilizer doesn't have any sulfur in it. But I did some heavy foliar applications of Epsom send an not seeing a reaction. We'll see how it goes

Btw the 2465's name is Wolf Flame

My other main patch - the 1727 - is also slow. The plant is in better condition but has a whitefly infestation which is a first for me. They're not reacting to pesticides yet...

Sunday, July 27 View Page
Here's the 1727 pumpkin: Arctic Phantom. Also slow at 34 DAP 382 lbs. I'm not really sure what's going on, but I like the white color.

Finally the star of the patch (ha!) is my 1832.5 in 150 sqft. Definitely suffering from a lack of attention (including not pulling the pumpkin back and getting a huge bend in the main vine), something wilting sections of leaves, and whitefly, plus a strawberry shape. This is "Sloppy Joe" at 32 days old 133 lbs... On the plus side I have the pumpkins growing and a lot more free time now that vine burying is over!
